sigmoidoscopy

i was on my left side, knees together watching a monitor feed back video from a camera wandering around my colon. then, on the screen this little arm pincer came out, grabbed a chunk of tissue and tore a chuck off,
"did that tickle?"
"nope"
"oh, i was just wondering why you were laughing"
i was laughing because i'm watching all this happen on a monitor, and actually feeling it happen inside my body, like experiencing some kind of full immersion computer game with someone else at the controls, as the nurses and i joke about a version being released on Nintendo Wii. 'Rear Entry 3, the last biopsy'. some modern technology is impressive, in the past the pain must have been horrendous trying to insert a large format camera and a flash up the back passage to get a good photo.
